According to local police officials, Reuters reported that a plane crashed on Saturday night in the Badakshan province of northern Afghanistan. The event took place in a remote part of mountains.

The aircraft that went down in the mountains of Afghanistan was not an Indian-scheduled aircraft, nor was it a non-scheduled (NSOP)/charter aircraft, according to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.

An official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), cited by ANI, stated that the aircraft was a DC-10 registered in Morocco that went down in the mountains of Topkhana near the districts of Kuran-Munjan and Zibak in the province of Badakhshan.
